Days 4-5 in Berlin, Germany

Our Monday (4th day in Berlin) was filled with a hodge-podge of exploring activities.
Then, our final and 5th day in Berlin was very short as we were  preparing to leave and travel back home to Warsaw.

We found the World Clock
Located in the area of Alexanderplatz….an area we had walked around before
but we had never seen this clock!

It is a unique creation...
I'm standing under the area for Warsaw, Poland…about the 10th hour for the day.
Here is the location for San Diego…we are 9 hours apart…so below, the time is close to 1am or just finishing the 24th hour of the day.
Rebecca and Becca stand under the World Clock…Germany's time is the same as Warsaw, Poland

We found the Ampelmann store!
A whole store dedicated with merchandise for the East German pedestrian traffic light symbols.
In October 1961, the ampel men were created in response to a growing problem with road traffic accidents.
A traffic psychologist (I have never heard of this title before) introduced the first pedestrian sign to the people of Berlin.
Traffic directions for traffic were joined with  pedestrian lights.
It's design was "psychologically conceived" because road users react more quickly to appealing symbols.
We each bought a few interesting products from this fun store!
On our way to the chocolate Ritter's Store (once again) we found another Berlin Buddy Bear standing outside the Deutche Bank…the colors were the very same as the bank my sister works at in California!

Ritter's Chocolate Shop and Factory
Besides shopping here once again, we created or own chocolate creations and enjoyed some delicious Ritter desserts as well.

The red wall behind the counter is where directions are given both in the German and English languages,  for creating your own chocolate bar.

Rebecca and Becca are making choices...
We went away for a few hours while our chocolates were being made.
Upon our return arrival, the worker found and takes our chocolate out from the cooking area.
She finds our chocolates and puts them in individual bags and boxes.
One of our creations...
The worker was most helpful…she is showing us the individual boxes
We went upstairs and ordered some yummy bakery items….
I'm enjoying my wonderful cupcake!
The sign below was on a wall across from where we were eating our delicious treats.
An interesting quote…written by a familiar children's author…Judith Viorst.
In the afternoon, I returned to the Checkpoint Charlie location and explored a little more while Rebecca and Becca went to an Eygyptian Museum with items from King Tut.

Checkpoint Charlie area...
The only downside of the Checkpoint Charlie museum was there was no air conditioning inside and you could not take any pictures.
I especially enjoyed reading about the many individuals and families who tried to escape from the Eastern German side of the wall.
We say our goodbyes to our hotel and the receptionist….

We wait patiently for the bus, then wait for the tram and eventually the trains.
We arrive at the main/central train station in Berlin Germany.
"Welcome to the world's most modern train station. The heart of Berlin"
Our last Buddy Bear found at the Central Train Station….covered with animals from the Berlin Zoo.
Our train has arrived….and we are ready for our 5 hour + train ride back to Warsaw.

We have had another fun trip together...
We explored, walked, read, listened and learned about Berlin. This has been a great city for us to visit….I'm so glad we came to Berlin!
