Last Day in Austria

My favorite activity on our last day in Austria was to find and attend church here. We used our maps and google directions to find a church relatively close to where we were staying. We only had to ride a Metro then a bus to get to our needed location.

We exited our bus...and tried to figure out the direction we needed to travel to find the chapel.
Amidst the trees....we spotted a steeple and recognized something that looked familiar to us.
We were happy we were at the right location and that we could attend the main worship service (Sacrament Meeting). It was the 3rd and final hour of their 3 block service. The service was held all in German, but a very kind young man leaned forward and translated in English for us.
We sang the church hymns in German! Though I do not know any German...we sang just fine! In fact, the songs were much easier to sing in German for us than in Polish.
Here is the church building as we left after the meeting was over. I just loved being in church here, sitting amongst members who belong to the same church that I belong to....only difference...they were speaking German!
Mark's favorite activity of the day was to visit one of the art museums in Vienna. We visited the National Art Museum and enjoyed seeing many beautiful collections.

We saw statues....
and busts...
.....enjoyed the architecture of the museum
and very old Egyptian relics.
We saw a number of tombs

and drawings
and other pieces of beautiful art work. We could have spent hours and hours here...but it was quite warm and filled with many people also.
We saw beautiful paintings....one of the Schonbrunn Palace (that we visited on our first day in Vienna)
and paintings from Gustav Klimt...Austria's most famous artist.
This year Austria was celebrating the 150th anniversary of his birth.
I had seen this artist's works all over the city (in a lot of tourists shops) ...but didn't have a great appreciation for it. After seeing parts of his work in the museum though...I came to appreciate it more.

His popular piece...The Kiss.
Paintings on the ceilings...
Ornate lions at the sides of the staircases leading up to upper levels of the museum
and a beautiful and historic building on the outside as well.
We have visited a city of classical music.....a city that was home to many famous composers and musicians...a city with  historical arts and buildings. We both left Austria having learned and enjoyed much. Mark purchased a few Austrian treats to share with his co-workers...and they were quite fun treats when we tried them ourselves!
We enjoyed Vienna...Salzburg...and all the areas in between. We had a great 4 day trip to Austria....and we could easily say...we did enjoy our time here!
